The truth about hydrogen
Some say it's the fuel of the future that will soon power large parts of our economies. Others say it's just a hoax propagated by the oil and gas industry. But either way, EVERYONE in the energy world is talking about hydrogen. Can it really help us get to net zero?

In the summer of 2023, the Rijnstate hospital of Elst, The Netherlands opened its doors. What makes this particular campus interesting is how it generates its energy. Heat pumps, PV panels, and an electrolyzer all work in concert to maintain a constant supply of power. The building collects energy from over 1,300 solar panels located on both the roof and the ground floor. When there’s a surplus of solar, that energy goes toward electrolysis, the splitting action that produces hydrogen. This then allows for hydrogen fuel cells to kick in as a form of reserve power when the sunnier supplies are low.

Is Europe on track to develop its own Hydrogen economy? | DW Business
Efforts are underway to develop an industry for a fuel that could one day enable us to fly without the guilt of destroying the planet with dirty emissions. The world needs to de-carbonize - and it needs to do so fast in order to avoid planetary disaster. In the search for cleaner alternative fuels, many are pinning their hopes on Hydrogen. Although its production still overwhelmingly relies on burning fossil fuels, proponents point to the fact that the only byproducts of consuming it are heat and water. In Europe, lawmakers are keen to harness its power too. Scotland in particular sees huge potential in exporting the fuel - especially given the availabilty of wind power, which would enable it to produce the fuel cleanly.

Can hydrogen powered plants turn steel production 'green'? | DW News
The production of steel today still means the release of a lot of climate-damaging CO2. Globally, the steel industry is responsible for a 6 percent of Co2 emissions. The aim is to change this as quickly as possible. In the future, hydrogen could replace coal, which is currently used to melt steel. Christian Pricelius took a look at the world's first steel production using hydrogen in Sweden.

New Hydrogen Fuel Cell Breakthrough SHOCKS American Scientists!
In this video we will discuss the importance of hydrogen storage as a key enabling technology for the advancement of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in various applications. Hydrogen is the most common chemical element, but it cannot be extracted from nature in its pure state, and its extraction process determines whether it is clean and sustainable. The video explores the concept of environmentally friendly hydrogen and why it is gaining traction globally. It also highlights a recent breakthrough by researchers at Deakin University, who have discovered a unique, waste-free approach to isolating, storing, and transferring extremely large volumes of gas, including hydrogen. The new procedure utilizes boron nitride powder to create a solid-state storage system for hydrogen gas. This disc...

Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Energy Neil Gray is hoping to drum up support for his country's Hydrogen ambitions and distance himself from British Prime Minister Richi Sunak's recent decision to weaken the UK's climate goals.

Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Energy Neil Gray is hoping to drum up support for his country's Hydrogen ambitions and distance himself from British Prime Minister Richi Sunak's recent decision to weaken the UK's climate goals.

This discovery has the potential to significantly reduce energy costs, improve the processing of many other gases, and pave the way for the development of solid-state storage systems for many gases.
